DAILY PROMISE

The Promise Of Forgiveness

Washed Clean

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.    1 John 1:9 (NKJV)

1 John 1:9 is a PROMISE.  We will find forgiveness in Christ if we confess our sins. This is a blessed assurance.  He will never say, “No, I don’t accept your apology and confession.  I do not forgive you. I do not want a relationship with you.”

Some of you may know the heartache of humbling yourself and apologizing for something, hoping to restore a relationship, only to be rebuffed or ignored.  Your cry to be forgiven was not met with love or a consoling pardon.  This pain is one I know well. However, all we can do is what the scripture instructs and then leave it to God to mend.

Thankfully, we will never suffer this rejection with our God.  He accepts our repentance and casts the memory of our sin as far as the east is from the west.  We are washed by the blood and sacrifice of the Lamb.  He longs for an intimate relationship with us and will not reject us, even when we have dirty laundry that needs a good wash.

Hold on to the promise that ALL of your sins are forgiven and that you are cleansed from all unrighteousness the minute you confess your sin and repent.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”                                                           2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
