Faithful Are The Wounds Of A Friend

 Be Kind

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend,
but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Proverbs 27:6 (NKJV)

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”      1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV)

So many times friends part ways because they don’t see eye to eye on all matters. We need to appreciate the goodness in each other and pray for a better understanding of the ways we differ. If we all thought alike the world would be a pretty boring place.

However, I do (and always will) hold on to one truth, and my friends are aware of my belief.  Jesus Christ is Lord of all, was sent to redeem us by dying on the cross, and rose again. These friends also know I pray for them and that I would love to take them to church, if they don’t already have a church home. Above all things, I want those I care for to see the light of Jesus inside of me. So, I try my best to cultivate and encourage a desire within everyone for a personal relationship with God.

Not all my friends hold the same faith as mine. Because of this, there are many different levels of intimacy in my friendships. Some friends love gardening and we can talk all day about pumpkins and zucchini.  However, I get to dust the conversation with God’s goodness, love, and provisions.  Thankfully, they care enough about me to listen! I am not only planting vegetable seeds in my back yard. I am also sowing seeds of faith from God above.

There is a reason you were drawn to that special friend in your life. God has a purpose for crossing your path with another soul. Don’t reject a friend for having a different faith than yours.  Embrace them, if you feel the tug of the Holy Spirit to do so.  Let God’s love inside of you shine.  They might not admit it, but they are attracted to your spirit and desire the peace within your heart. As the children’s song says….

“This little light of mine….  I’m gonna let it shine. Let it shine…..Let it SHINE….LET IT SHINE!

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.”                      Romans 12:10 (NKJV)

As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”  Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV)
